Learn Chinook Jargon live: how to join the Saturday Morning Group

Here’s the secret password…
The Saturday Group folks tell me:
The sessions take place via Zoom, an online video conferencing platform.
The only things (technology wise) that a participant needs are: internet access and a computer/mobile device with a camera and microphone.
Zoom is extremely easy to use. There is nothing for participants to buy as the software downloads to their device as they enter the CW session.
The sessions take place from 08:00AM to 09:00AM (West Coast time) on Saturday mornings.
Anyone who wants to join us is welcomed.
Our sessions can accommodate motivated beginners to expert speakers.
We have but one requirement: Potential participants must submit an e-mail (in Chinook Wawa – 10 words or less) stating why they are interested in joining the sessions.
The address to email?
It’s iskumkumtuks@telus.net.
Bummer….my computer does not have a camera or microphone….is there a way I can just listen but not participate?

That’s a good question, Laura. I’ll ask the Saturday Group leaders…

Klahowya Laura,
1. I doubt the Zoom software (which looks for the user’s camera/microphone) would work on a computer with no camera/microphone. Even if it did work, the answer to your question is “No”.
Consider participation to be the cost of admission.
2. Places like Best Buy have webcam/microphones available for around $30. Let a computer shop know the make/model of your computer and I would think they can fix you up with a webcam/microphone.
3. We have but one requirement (considering we expect participation one could argue we actually have two requirements): Potential participants must submit an e-mail (in Chinook Wawa – 10 words or less) stating why they are interested in joining the sessions. Email: iskumkumtuks@telus.net
Regards,
Snass
