I’m not getting any younger, these songs won’t record themselves, and clichés won’t get the job done either!
All of you folks who have hung out with me know that my #1 recommended way of language learning is through songs.
It’s how I learned what I know of Brazilian Portuguese, how I got better at Slovenian, and how I really locked in a feeling for CHINUK WAWA.
There are so many Chinook Jargon songs! Lucky us!
Who’s going to record them?
Who has the community spirit to do that?
I’m a musician, or I used to be a trumpeter and a punk-rock bassist, if those count 😒👌, but…
Some of you are wonderful singers and players! And you know some wonderful players and singers!
Some of the known Chinuk Wawa songs { ☜ that’s a link to them} have audio recordings already. Some only have their lyrics written down. Some have musical notation preserved, like this one:
