“A Legacy from Sam Morris”

About 3 years ago I introduced you to a Chinook Jargon song recorded in 1911 by Nez Perce tribal members.

Today I can provide a bit more information.

I got my hands on the published book that discusses the audio collection that that song is part of: “A Legacy from Sam Morris”, by Loran Olsen, published by Northwest Interpretive Association in Seattle in 1999.

Does anyone reading this recognize the song from that musical transcription, or from hearing it at the link above?

kata maika tumtum? Qu’en penses-tu?
What do you think?
And can you say it in Chinuk Wawa?
