Another Chinuk Wawa book for the kids: “Kalapuya-Chinuk wawa Ikanum”
I’m happy to report that I’ve received a 3-book bundle in the mail, containing another Chinuk Wawa book for kids.
“Kalapuya-Chinuk wawa Ikanum” (that’s a K’alapuya-Chinook Jargon story) is by Saghaley Lewis and his dad Dr. David G. Lewis (Grand Ronde Tribes).

It’s quite an appealing book! Colorful images in a style that I associate with anime show animals, birds, plants, and fish of K’alapuya lands, with their names shown in both Central K’alapuyan and Chinook Jargon.
I like it a lot, and I think young kids will, too.
(They sent me an autographed copy, even.) 😊
PS: Another kids book I wrote about recently is “Klahowya: A Fort Nisqually Book“.
𛰅𛱁𛰃𛱂 𛰙𛱁𛱆𛰅𛱁 𛰃𛱄𛰙𛰃𛱄𛰙? qʰáta mayka tə́mtəm?
kata maika tumtum? Qu’en penses-tu?
What do you think?
And can you say it in Chinuk Wawa?

I was really impressed with Saghaley Lewis’s art. He was at my county fair with this and some other art.
