Still another pidginized Secwépemc word in Northern Chinook Jargon: sishinim ‘singing’
Naika wawa masi kopa Pir Lio! Leo was emailing me about some questions, which is how I became aware of still another pidginized Secwépemc (“Shuswap” Salish) word in Northern Chinook Jargon.
It’s not even particularly religious, this time ✳️
The word is sishinim, which Leo acutely deciphered as Secwepemctsín setsínəm ‘to sing’. Here’s what it looks like, written in Chinuk Pipa:
