It made the evening news on TV in Germany, also, because basically all the Pope’s international travels and visits make the mainstream evening news. I did not follow the story much. There was footage of several chiefs with large headdresses greeting the Pope. The story of the old residential schools in Canada is not widely known in Europe, so I was glad that TV reporters explained the context rather well. It was the first time I heard it reported in a mainstream medium in German. I understand the Pope is not well and using a wheelchair now, and this was still a visit he absolutely wanted to do.
