Thank you, Public Salon!
I want to put in a note of thanks to a remarkable cultural institution that I’ve recently become acquainted with: Sam Sullivan’s Public Salon in Vancouver, BC.
Last week, I spoke at the latest Salon about “The Chinook Jargon We Never Knew (But Will!)”
This photo by the talented Sarah Murray gives you a hint of how I went about that task 🙂
Soon I’ll post a link to a video of my talk.
Meanwhile, thanks so much to Sam, Lynn, and the whole remarkable crew who make these Salons happen. It was a privilege and quite a bit of fun to get up and peer into the spotlight!

PS: Yes, I am growing both a beard and a chin 🙂
Thanks David for your outstanding presentation to almost 600 people at the Public Salon in Vancouver! You made a great impression and presented the case for endangered native languages and Chinook Jargon.

You look quite good with a chin! Also, nice going. 600 new people now know that linguistics can be fun, and their own geographic dialect, funner still.
