“Less familiar words” in the Northern Dialect (Part 1B: Shaw 1909 continued)
It’s remarkable how many of the following words said to be unfamiliar in the northern dialect (especially Puget Sound) are indeed only known in the south (especially Grand Ronde).
“Sick moon”
As important as muΜn (‘moon; month’) is for measuring time, terms for the moon’s phases aren’t necessarily easy to discover in Chinook Jargon.

Pidgin English “allsame” in Chinuk Wawa
We’ve found Chinese Pidgin English-style “allsame” a couple times in Chinuk Wawa, as a synonym of kakwa.
