September 8, 2017: Heard my neighbour use Hayak in normal conversation yesterday in English.
That’s áyáq, ‘fast; hurry; really soon’.
And it’s one of the Chinook Jargon words that found a home in west coast Canadian English for decades.
I betcha some of the folks who say hayak don’t even know it’s Jargon.
