Is CJ “wahpoos” actually ‘Snake TRIBE’?
The earliest, and effectively the only, occurrence of “wahpoos” as a word for a snake in Chinuk Wawa is found in George Coombs Shaw’s 1909 dictionary, published in Seattle.
