In a small town, you’d better watch your behavior!

Local folks weren’t forgetting this fella’s fit:

A little episode happened here not
many weeks ago, which we cannot fail
to give a passing notice. It was of a
man near his 40s who shed a few tears
and expressed his grief in other ways
on account of not getting his accus-
tomed place at the dinner table. “Mi-
ca wake close.“
— from the Roseburg (OR) Douglas Independent of August 7, 1880, page 3, column 4
Mica wake close = mayka wík-łúsh = ‘You’re (a) bad (one)” / “The boy ain’t right!”
